Message from the Religious School Director

Attending Religious School is not merely another drop-off activity; it is an important step in raising the next generation of educated, involved Jews. We are proud to be partners with you the families who make up our Temple community. The Religious School is not the sole educator of our children. Clearly, family has the strongest influence on the development of a child. Therefore, we invite you to strengthen your decision to educate your Jewish child/children by reinforcing in your home the lessons we teach in the Temple.

We invite you to be active partners in your child/children's religious formation by attending services, celebrating holidays and, most certainly, getting involved in your child/children's education. We strive to create a warm, inviting learning environment for you and your child. This year we are going to be following the attendance of our students very closely to ensure they get the best education possible by being at school as often as possible.

To raise children in this modern age means giving them tools to make wise and moral decisions throughout their lives. At Temple B'nai Israel Religious School, we strive to teach our students the beauty and importance of an involved, Reform Jewish lifestyle in which God, Torah and attachment to Israel shape the decisions we make every day. We hope you and your child/children will only grow in your love of Judaism as together we watch the next generation flourish.

Religious School Info

Offering classes for Preschoolers through 7th grade students, our dynamic Religious School program brings Judaism to life by engaging students in stimulating classroom activities, & music. Each of our classes participates or leads a Family Shabbat Service once throughout the year which give them the opportunities beyond book learning to foster class & congregational community and enrich their Jewish living.

Our curriculum explores the Jewish Holidays, Bible stories, Jewish values and ethics, lifecycles, history, Israel, and as part of our program students are taught to read Hebrew. Our B'nai Mitzvah training prepares them to be a full member of the Jewish community as they lead our congregation in worship at their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Students attending our Preschool class are between the ages of 3, who are potty trained and 5, who are not yet enrolled in Kindergarten in Public Schools. If you would like more information, please contact Carrie Richman, Religious School Director tbi-rs@charter.net
